Hi, I'm teacher Jonna an OnlineEnglish Teacher for Korean student. The job itself is very easy because I just need to call my student, have our short classes in vocabularies, pronunciation, sentence construction and grammar rules for just 10 to 20 minutes depending on the availability and payment of the student.
The hardest part of it? I have to wake up early!!!! I should get up at 4 o'clock in the morning because our call time is 4:45 am and class time start at 5 o'clock (that's 6'oclock in Korea). Good thing, my apartment is just 5-10 minutes away from the office. And also I am super so I could take a bath and wear my ready clothes for less than 20 minutes. Haha! But poor to those officemates who are living far from the office I've heard, they have to wake up at 2am.^_^x
I've been working as an English Instructor Associate for more than 4 years now and I would say I am so much familliar with Korean culture like their foods, fashion sense, attitude, type of music, behavior and opinions particularly about the invasion of Japan and Korean War.
In every new student that I met through phone. We always discuss about those topics which still need me to act as if I still don't know about it, so they could be comfortable talking and expressing themselves more than they can do(Anyway, that's my real job, let them speak more so they could practice their speaking skills)
Most of my students, feel hatred and sadness everytime they talk about it. They said, they hate Japanese and leaders of North Korea (even young ones told me that).
“I lilly, lilly hate Japan and North Korea, They al belly, belly bad!!” (I really, really hate JPN and NK, They are very, very bad) a 13 year old boy when asked how does he feel about their past invaders)
Yeah, maybe they were just naïve of saying that because of what they had experienced and what they had learned from their Korean History subject. But still, they are pro peace and always disagree in any form of war and invasion again.
“You know Jonna, I still look forward for a better Korea when North and South Korea reunite and have peace. I couldn't imagine how wonderful and powerful nation we have if that would happen”, my engineer student said.
For them, it was in the past and nothing in the past should happen again especially those disastrous moments. (Anyway, Japan and South Korea are now having a good relationship and decided to forget the past and be friends once again.)
However, the remaining problem is even South Korea always expresses their sympathy of helping people from the North, like spending millions and billlions for them..Still,they are failed of convincing North to sign an agreement of peace between them.
'They are becoming abussive. Our government spent more money to help them but look what they've done?” A housewife student burst when we talked about the suddent attack of North to one of their island.
For more than 50 years, the realtionship between these separated nation is still unclear.
It was all started in 1950-armistice when North and South had a military conflict which South supported by the Democratic country of America and North supported by the Communist party of Russia and China.
The war started and resulted political division of Korea by agreement of the victorious allies at the conclusion of Pacific war.
Early this year,South Korea accuses North Korea of sinking the naval warship in Yellow sea. which killed 46 sailors.

This made South Korean government refused to help the North Korea again especialy by giving them rice and other important commodities. According to my students they have to do it because North Korea don't know how to do favor in return.
Until this November 24 when a sudden attact occurred in one of the island in South Korea which killed two South Korean soldiers and wounded 17 others and three civilians while sending tremors through world markets already unsettled by Ireland's debt woes and a shift to less risky assets. This attacked resulted to counter attack against North Korea.
With this incident, all of my students are worried about it. It seems that the war they are forgetting a long time ago is awaken and waiting to reborn once again in reason of misunderstanding and being inconsiderate of each party.
Moreover, my students are still hoping that in God's will peace will always prevail.
